Custom link previews control the card that supported messaging and social apps can display when someone shares a short link. Open Custom Link Preview while creating or editing the link. You can provide a title, description, and image. You can upload an image or use an image URL when the field supports it.

Keep the title short, use a description that matches the destination, and choose an image with enough contrast for small cards. Save the link, then test it in the intended sharing app.
Social platforms cache preview metadata. A platform can continue showing an older card for a while after you update the link.

Configure the preview

  1. Open the link editor and find the preview or SEO fields.
  2. Add a title that identifies the destination.
  3. Add a short description that accurately explains what opens after the click.
  4. Select the supported image or image reference offered by the editor.
  5. Save, then paste the short URL into the intended platform’s preview tool or draft composer.
Preview fields do not change the destination page. They provide metadata to social crawlers and messaging applications that inspect the short URL. A platform can ignore a field, crop the image, or replace it with destination metadata according to its own rules.

Refresh an old card

First confirm that the link contains the new values. Then use the platform’s debugger or refresh tool when available. Sending the URL with a temporary query parameter can create a new cache key, but it also creates a different shared URL and should be used deliberately. Do not use a preview that misrepresents the final destination. It can reduce visitor trust and trigger safety review.
