Open a conversation from Messages or the public Biolink chat. The available actions depend on whether a message is yours, whether it has been deleted and whether sending is allowed.

Send text and reply

  1. Enter text in the composer; a message can contain up to 5,000 characters.
  2. Select send, or press Enter. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
  3. Wait for the message to finish sending.
  4. To reply to a particular message, open its actions and select Reply.
  5. Review the quoted message before sending your reply.
On touch devices, press and hold a message to open its actions. On desktop, use its message menu. Selecting a quoted message can navigate to the original where it remains available in your retained history.

Edit, delete and copy

Use Edit on your own eligible text messages, update the text and save. Edited messages show an edited indicator. Recordings do not have a text-edit action. Use Delete for your own message when offered. The conversation shows a deleted-message placeholder instead of its ordinary content. Deleting conversation history is a different action; see Privacy controls. Copy text using the offered action. Do not assume there is a generic file-attachment or message-forwarding feature merely because a message has a menu.

Record voice

  1. Use the microphone control with an empty text composer.
  2. Allow microphone access when the browser asks.
  3. Record your message.
  4. Send it, or use the discard control to cancel.
  5. Check that the recording appears and can play.
Recordings are limited to five minutes and 10 MB. The browser must support recording and microphone permission. If recording stops at a limit, review the displayed state and send or discard it rather than assuming automatic delivery.

Receipts and failures

Read receipts are visual indicators, including blue checks in the relevant theme. They do not prove someone understood or acted on the content. Opening a minimized or background conversation is not the same as viewing its messages actively. For a failed send, follow Tap to retry or the displayed retry countdown. Inspect existing messages before manually composing the same content again.

Presence and typing

Online status reflects recent active presence, not a permanent connection or guaranteed availability to reply. Hidden, suspended or background browser activity can stop updating and the status can become offline. Typing is temporary activity in an active conversation, not a saved draft or sent message. A missing indicator does not prove the other participant disconnected. See Troubleshooting.
