# Static and dynamic QR codes

> Choose the correct standalone QR code type for your use case.

Static QR codes store their content directly in the image. They keep working without a Biqli redirect, but their content cannot be changed after download and Biqli cannot record scans.

Dynamic QR codes route through a managed Biqli record. You can update their destination without changing the QR pattern, and Biqli can report scan analytics. The record must remain active for the printed code to resolve.

Choose static for permanent simple content. Choose dynamic when editability or measurement matters.

## Plan for printed material

A static code keeps its original payload forever. Correct a mistake by creating
and distributing a new image. A dynamic code can keep the same printed pattern
while its destination fields change, but deleting or disabling its managed
record stops future resolution.

Scan a dynamic code after every destination update. Scan a static code before
printing because it cannot be corrected remotely.

### Does dynamic mean the image changes automatically?

No. The saved destination changes behind the managed code. Styling changes
require a new download.

### Does static require an active Biqli subscription to scan?

The payload is inside the image. The destination service itself must still be
available when the payload depends on one.

### Which type should I print in bulk?

Use dynamic when future destination edits or scan reports are important.
