# Add comments to short links

> Add private workspace context to a link, react to it, and control who can edit it.

Link comments keep campaign context beside a short link without changing where
the link redirects. Every link can have one comment of up to 5,000 characters.
All members who can view the link in the workspace can read and react to its
comment.

## Add a comment

1. Open **Links** in the intended workspace.
2. Create a link or open an existing link and select **Edit**.
3. Find **Comments** below **Tags** and **Pixels**.
4. Enter up to 5,000 characters.
5. Select **Create** or **Update**.

After you save, a notebook icon appears beside the short URL on the link card.
Hover over the icon on desktop or select it on mobile to read the comment.

  Include a complete URL such as `https://example.com/brief` when the comment
  should link to a brief, ticket, or approval record. Biqli makes complete URLs
  clickable and underlines them in the comment popover.

## Edit or remove a comment

Members with **Links update** permission can select the pencil icon in the
comment popover. Biqli opens the link editor and focuses the **Comments** field.
Workspace owners can always edit comments.

Update the text and save to replace the existing comment. To remove it, clear
the field and save. The notebook icon disappears when the link has no comment.

Biqli records that comments were added, updated, or removed in the
[link activity log](/help/links/activity-reset-analytics). Activity entries do
not copy the private comment text.

## Like or dislike a comment

Use the thumbs-up or thumbs-down control in the popover footer to react. Each
workspace member can have one reaction per comment.

* Select the same reaction again to remove it.
* Select the opposite reaction to switch your vote.
* The counters show the current number of likes and dislikes.

Editing the comment keeps its reactions. Removing the comment removes its
reactions as well.

## Understand access and privacy

Comments are workspace-only metadata. They do not appear to people who open the
short URL, and they are not included in public analytics dashboards, link
exports, webhooks, search indexing, or the public Links API.

Members need permission to view the link before they can see or react to its
comment. Editing requires **Links update** permission, except that workspace
owners always retain edit access. Learn how to configure this permission in

## What happens when a link is deleted

Deleting a link permanently removes its comment and every reaction attached to
that comment as part of the same link cleanup process. Comments cannot be
restored separately from a deleted link.

  Pause a link instead of deleting it when you may need its comment, reactions,
  settings, or analytics later.

## Troubleshooting

If the notebook icon is missing, open the link editor and confirm the comment
contains text and that the update completed successfully. If the pencil icon is
missing, ask a workspace owner to grant **Links update** permission. If a URL is
not clickable, include its full `https://` or `http://` prefix.
