# Edit, preview and publish a Biolink

> Understand staged changes, dialog saves, undo and redo, mobile preview and publication errors.

Open a Biolink's **Edit design** action from the dashboard. The editor contains **Content**, **Header** and **Design**, with a live preview on desktop and a **Preview** action on smaller screens.

## Make a change safely

1. Open the relevant editor section and select the item you want to change.
2. Complete the fields and use **Save** or the confirmation action when a dialog provides one.
3. Return to the preview and check text, images, order and the selected interaction.
4. Use **Undo** or **Redo** if you need to adjust the current editing session.
5. Select **Publish changes** on desktop, or open the mobile preview and select **Publish**.
6. Wait for **Changes published**, then reload the public URL in another tab.

The updated public page should now match the published configuration. Staged edits are not a durable backup: publish before relying on a refresh, closing the browser or switching devices to preserve your work.

## Distinguish the different saves

| Action | Result |
| - | - |
| Change an editor field | Changes the staged page and its preview |
| Save an image crop or block dialog | Confirms that edit; publication may still be required |
| Publish the page | Saves and applies the editor's staged content and design |
| Update page settings | Saves the separate page settings form |
| Disconnect an external account | Changes that connection; it is not undone by changing a block title |

Undo and redo work with supported editor changes. They do not reverse submitted forms, votes, sent messages, moderation decisions or actions already performed on an external service. Recheck the preview and publish if you want an undo to change the live page.

## Check the right preview

A draft block may show demonstration content or unavailable actions before it has been published. Use preview for appearance; test submissions, sign-in, media and destinations on the published page. Mobile preview is useful for layout, but a real phone also tests keyboard, permissions and installed apps.

## Recover from publication errors

Read the displayed error and return to the affected block. Fill required fields, upload a readable PDF, correct rejected URLs or wait for an in-progress lookup. Retry publication after correcting the problem. Do not assume a failed publication replaced the live version.

If another editor changes the same page, reload the current saved state before continuing conflicting work. Coordinate editing rather than treating the preview as an independent copy of the page. See [Troubleshooting](https://learn.biq.li/help/links/biolinks/troubleshooting.md).
